Scott Fasano

I almost missed the life I was building.

I write about what success, responsibility and being the capable one can cost. I also work inside businesses, where seeing the problem clearly is only useful if something changes.

Also in development: A Call for Help

Scott and his family walking barefoot along the beach.
The life I kept postponing.

A little of how I got here

I had the résumé.

I worked my way from loading bags on airplanes into executive roles. Later, I worked in turnarounds, logistics, hospitality and businesses that needed someone to take responsibility for what happened next.

There was a lot I could do. Being present in my own life was harder.

“I spent years building a life I thought I’d be able to enjoy one day… with my family. The same family I was running from.”

The living writing

Already There

What I’m noticing while I’m actually living it.

The writing moves between work, marriage, fatherhood, faith, fear and the ordinary decisions I can still make complicated.

Some pieces name something quickly. Others stay with the moment that taught me to see it.

“I spent years trying to fix my life with discipline. Turns out honesty worked better.”
“I no longer ask God to make the road easy. I ask for the courage to stay honest on it.”

In the work

I look past the first explanation.

In a business, a recurring complaint may point to something upstream: a handoff, a decision, a process nobody owns.

In my own life, being busy sometimes kept me from facing the thing I already knew needed attention.

The evidence is different. The habit of looking again carries across.

Inside businesses

Operating work, responsibility and the problem underneath the visible one.

Defy Tomorrow

Structured writing and reflection for working through what keeps repeating in your own life.

A Call for Help

The longer story behind much of what I write.

A memoir about the life I learned to survive, the life I built, and what I had to face to be present in it.

“I woke up thirty-five years later surrounded by love, joy, laughter and the family I always dreamed of…”

From the working manuscript.

There’s more in the writing.
